Egg Facts

We are now beginning to embrace the near perfection that is the humble egg. Eggs are naturally packaged perfect nutrition, second only to breast milk in human nutrition and have many valuable assets of their own to consider in a healthy balanced diet.
Eggs are of the highest quality protein. The simple ingredient required to create a protein is a molecule called an amino acid. There are about 20 amino acids, 11 of which the body can create and the rest are called essential amino acids only obtainable only through the foods we eat. Eggs contain all the essential amino acids; the building blocks for growth and repair. These are vital at any age, from growth as a child, fitness and health as an adult and also in maintaining muscle as we age. There are other sources of essential proteins; none of them can be absorbed in the body as easily as the protein provided by eggs. Containing up to 13 essential vitamins and minerals, only 75 calories and up to 5 grams of fat the perfect meal is naturally easy and also affordable when the egg is the star on the plate.
Breakfast is seen as the most important meal of the day and with eggs containing all the essential protein, minerals and vitamins, except Vitamin C eggs are undoubtedly the best option. Starting your day with the perfect protein rich egg as your breakfast can also assist weight management and even weight loss. Add a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and your body will more readily absorb the iron from the egg and your fuelled to go. A protein rich breakfast also has the added value of keeping you satisfied for longer so it’s easier to stay on a healthy eating plan.
Eggs contain only small amounts of calcium but the shell is made up almost entirely of calcium. How can this be of benefit? The shells can be washed in hot water, crushed into a powder and added to homemade soup for a calcium boost.
Many people avoid or question the consumption of eggs due to the dietary cholesterol found in eggs. The consumption of eggs have never been linked to the increase in blood cholesterol levels in the body responsible for heart disease. Most of the fat in an egg is the healthy unsaturated type, including omega-3, not the unhealthy saturated fat that has a greater effect on blood cholesterol levels.
When eggs are of the highest quality protein and the most affordable why not add them to your menu today? Naturally wrapped goodness doesn’t get any better. If you are wondering if an egg is fresh, pop it in a glass of water; it will float if it is stale. Boil them and keep them in the fridge for a quick and healthy snack. If you forget which ones have been boiled, spin them and if they do so easily they are boiled, if not they will wobble.
The egg, so small but so mighty, perfect protein, good fat for brain health, minerals for eye health, satisfying and containing all the essentials ingredients to sustain life and ready to go naturally. The Egg, referred to as the most complete and pure food, get them on your plate today to be rewarded by the benefits for all your tomorrows.
