Egg Carton Activities – Craft for Kids

The Very Hungry Little Caterpillar

What you’ll need:
Egg Carton
Acrylic Paint – Red, green & yellow
Paint Brush
Water glass

Step 1. Cut egg carton in half. Our example is a mini version of the Hungry Little Caterpillar but you can make it longer.
Step 2. Paint the caterpillar body green and the head red.
Step 3. Paint eyes as oval shapes in yellow, wait till dry, then paint smaller green ovals for the caterpillars pupil
Step 4. Paint yellow dots along the top of the callerpillars body
Step 5. Poke 2 holes in the top of the Hungry Caterpillars head and thread the pipe-cleaner through

Egg Carton Butterfly

What you’ll need:

Egg Carton
Acrylic Paint in your favourite colours
Butterfly wings pdf click here to print
Google eyes
Craft Glue
Paint Brush
Water Glass
Printer (to print out wings)

Step 1. Cut egg carton in half. We’ve used 3 egg cups but you can make it longer if you like.
Step 2. Paint the Butterfly’s body.
Step 3. Print out Butterfly wings pdf click here
Step 4. Colour the butterfly wings using bright Acrylic paints
Step 5. Print out Butterfly wings pdf click here to print
Step 6. Brush Glue along bottom rims of the egg carton and glue in place over the wings
Step 7. Brush glue onto google eye and hold firmly to Butterfly’s face. Repeat for other eye.
Step 8. Pock a hole in the top of the Butterflys head, bend a pipecleaner in half and stick it into the hole. Curly the tops of the antennas
